RESULTS Basketball will be returning for a Fall clinic on Oct. 29 (1-4 p.m. at Wagner) for grades 1-6. After the overwhelming success of this summer's clinic Matt and Mark will be returning to help us get a head start on the upcoming season. The cost is $30.

There are two ways to register. Both involve you printing out the registration form and either-1. Send it and a check to the address on the form or 2. Leave it at the Town Office in an envelope marked “Winterport Recreation”.  The Town Office is NOT processing the registrations as the money does not go to the town. This option is for people who do not want to mail it in. The form is posted below (use the Fall clinic form) or I can email it to you.

Make the checks out to Matt MacKenzie or Mark Baxter

Send checks to RESULTS Basketball c/o Matt MacKenzie, 130 Cottage Shore Drive, Holden, ME 04429

Town Manager Phil Pitula and I have continued our efforts to improve Abbott Park. We are in the second year of a serious push to get our ball fields in playing shape for the middle school baseball and softball teams. The school district, Little League and the town are creating a cooperative plan to upgrade and maintain the fields. It is great to see these groups getting together to make this happen.

The town has replaced/repaired fencing around the basketball courts and ball fields. I cleaned out fallen trees and weeds from the recreation trails. We also plan to replace two bridges on one of the trails. We also increased the maintenance schedule for the fields and park in general. The playground will be overhauled late summer/fall. Once these items are finished we will need no major work done in the near future and will only have to maintain the area. The area looks far better and we hope the residents enjoy the new look.

The recreation department is always looking for volunteers to help coach, run programs, clean and maintain fields and facilities, and strengthen the recreation department. Whatever your skill, time available, or interest, we can use your help! Volunteering can be a half hour of help once year, teaching a one-time or ongoing class, or a regular commitment. It's up to you and we welcome any help you offer.
