Our community has come together to help two families in need. Sasha Hart is undergoing treatments for breast cancer and Aaron Adamo continues to battle an internal infection.

We will hold a Pig Roast on Saturday June 30th @ Abbott Park in Winterport 4pm-8pm. This event will need many volunteers and donations in order to be successful.

Darling's Ice Truck will be on-site from 6:00-8:00PM

We already have several businesses that have come forward to help make this happen.
You can read more about the families on our Winterport Recreation FB page.

A sign up page for food donations and volunteers has been created. Any questions please contact Greg or April DaSilva

Thank you,

RESULTS Basketball will be returning for a summer clinic on July 16-20 (9 a.m.-12 p.m. at Wagner) for grades 1-6.The cost is $115 and includes a t shirt.

There are three ways to register.

1. Visit their website and register/pay online at www.resultsbasketball.net

2. Mail the registration form and check (made out to Matt MacKenzie or Mark Baxter) and send it to RESULTS Basketball c/o Matt MacKenzie, 130 Cottage Shore Drive, Holden, ME 04429
(you can find the registration form on winterportrec.org)

3. Drop off the registration form and a check to the Town Office in an envelope marked “Winterport Recreation”. The Town Office is NOT processing the registrations as the money does not go to the town. This option is for people who do not want to mail it in. The form is posted below or I can email it to you.

The playground area has been redone and hydroseed sprayed throughout. PLEASE keep your children and/or pets out of the playground area until the grass has had time to set and the barrier has been removed.

The basketball court has been repaved. Enjoy!

Resident Dan Mayo has offered to host another soccer clinic for our kids (he ran one two summers ago). Everyone was very pleased with the clinic and the kids had a blast. Details will be made available soon.

Town Manager Phil Pitula and I have continued our efforts to improve Abbott Park. We are in the second year of a serious push to get our ball fields in playing shape for the middle school baseball and softball teams. The school district, Little League and the town are creating a cooperative plan to upgrade and maintain the fields. It is great to see these groups getting together to make this happen.

The recreation department is always looking for volunteers to help coach, run programs, clean and maintain fields and facilities, and strengthen the recreation department. Whatever your skill, time available, or interest, we can use your help! Volunteering can be a half hour of help once year, teaching a one-time or ongoing class, or a regular commitment. It's up to you and we welcome any help you offer.
