We are in the slowest time of year for Rec. programming. I could not find anyone to run any summer camps or activities. In August things will pick up as we hold registrations for soccer and the craft fair and prepare for the Fall season, which is by far the busiest part of the year for the Rec. Dept.

Work continues on the ball fields at Abbott Park. Hammond Lumber graciously provided $400 dollars off each dugout ($1600 total). Winterport Little League donated $1800 to pay for the remainder of the cost of the dugouts at the softball field. The following donors provided the funds for the other two dugouts- New England Salt, Clisham Construction, Don Dickel Floors, Oddfellows (Garfield Lodge), JCM Redemption, Masons (Howard Lodge of Winterport A.F.A.M.), Sonny's Driving Range/Par 3 Course, DM&J Waste, Herz Tree Service, Olver Assoc., Ridge Runner Veterinary Service, and Farm House Coffee Roasters. Thank you all so much for supporting this wonderful cause!

The recreation department is always looking for volunteers to help coach, run programs, clean and maintain fields and facilities, and strengthen the recreation department. Whatever your skill, time available, or interest, we can use your help! Volunteering can be a half hour of help once year, teaching a one-time or ongoing class, or a regular commitment. It's up to you and we welcome any help you offer.
